VOID ==== The Void Universe ----------------- Note that the terms used in this description are not exactly equivalent to the same terms used in descriptions of the real Universe. Sorry about the confusion, but it's easier than making up wholly new terms just for this. WINNING CONDITION There might be several winning conditions, but the main one is that minds are ranked by total mass of objects controlled by the mind. INTRODUCTION The Void universe is a four-dimensional spacetime having three linear uniform dimensions for space and one dimension for time. The universe is made up of one fundamental component, matter. Matter can be discrete, porous solid, impermeable solid, liquid, or gaseous, and has various properties, discussed below. Matter can be formed into objects. Objects have a structure, matter in which forms an integral part of the object. Other objects can also form part of an object's structure. In addition, objects can hold quantities of matter and other objects. Objects may also be stacked. All matter forms part of, or is contained in, an object. The universe is also host to a number of incorporeal entities called minds. Minds are the only sentient creatures in the universe. They impose their will on the universe by controlling objects. Any one object can only be controlled by at most one mind at any one time, although control can pass from mind to mind, voluntarily or by force. The universe has a universal reference frame in which time flows at a defined rate. Matter and objects within the universe may experience time at rates that differ from the universal rate of time, but minds always experience time at the same rate as the reference frame. MATTER Matter comes in various fundamental types, which are linked together by changes in temperature (internal energy). Each type of matter has the following properties: Density Mass of smallest unit Minimum temperature, matter at lower temperatures Maximum temperature, matter at higher temperatures Heat capacity (amount of energy stored per unit temperature per unit mass) Thermal conductivity (amount of energy released per unit time per unit mass to objects in contact with lower temperatures) Type of matter: Dicrete Solid: Porous, Impermeable Elastic limit (force needed to permanently change shape) Plastic limit (force beyond which object falls apart) Liquid Gaseous Any quantity of matter can be described in terms of: What matter it is What temperature it has The quanitity of smallest units OBJECTS Each object consists of: Blueprint Structure Matters Component Objects Contents (Matter or Objects) Surface Objects If the object is not on the surface of another object, then: Orbit Objects Stress Controlling Mind Script BLUEPRINTS Blueprints are the designs using which matter is turned into objects. Minimum volume of structure Maximum volume of structure Maximum size of smallest particle of structural matter Resolution needed to create Volume of contents Shape: Closed, Open; Spherical, Tall, Flat, Pyramid, Inverted pyramid Abilities: Dig?: Minimum size of objects that can be dug? Create?: Resolution of creator? Min, max volume of createe? Move?: ... Pick up?: ... Drop?: ... Lift off?: ... Land?: ... THE NATURAL UNIVERSE Star Extreme volume, spherical, no internal volume Consists of lots of Gaseous Hydrogen at High temperatures Planet Huge volume, spherical, no internal volume Consists of lots of Porous Solid this, that, and the other Construction drone Something Ability: Can dig solids from structure of object on whose surface it lies (restrictions: minimum size of dig) Can create anything of a certain resolution or bigger using objects and resources contained within Can pick up objects from surface
